I have to think about whether conferences and events like SL8 birthday are worth my time/energy in future. Usually the Duo Appassionato have audiences of 50+ fill sims but because the SL8 birthday organizers put us in a venue where there was also exhibits and presentations going on, at the top of the concert there was only space for about 10 people in the sim and it was lagged terribly. I was upset for the musicians who had done us all a favour by making time for the concert.
